Mercado de La Paz

Since 1882 people have come daily to Mercado de La Paz, one of the first to be opened in Madrid.

Located in one of the best neighborhoods of the capital, here is where people come to buy the freshest and most select products for their kitchens.

It is the only market in Madrid built in the nineteenth century that still operates today.

Original plans for the building were designed by Gustave Eiffel, who employed a unique iron structure for the market.  Later, other architects helped contribute to its final construction.

Today the market offers one of the best selections of fresh foods of the very best quality: several gourmet butcher shops, colorful fruit shops, traditional bakeries, and the freshest seafood.
