Key Locations Explained
Segóbriga Archaeological Park: A major Roman city in the Iberian Peninsula, Segóbriga played a vital economic role controlling the lapis specularis mines. Only seven Roman cities in Spain had a theater, amphitheater, and circus, and Segóbriga is one of them. Visitors explore an ancient theater, amphitheater arena, and public baths.
Lapis Specularis Mines: These Roman mines produced 'Hispania’s Crystal.' Small group guided visits demonstrate the mining methods, lighting, and tools used by Romans, set in a natural landscape combining outdoor and historical elements.
Roman Villa of Noheda: Known as the “Spanish Pompeii,” this villa from the 4th century AD features the empire’s largest mosaic, highly regarded for its exceptional scale and preservation. It is located in the villa’s dining room area (triclinium).
