One day

9 h- 9.30 h.

We start from the Puerta del Sol, just under the clock of the Twelve Grapes. There on the ground you’ll find the landmark of Spain’s kilometer zero. If you cross the road you can see the bear and strawberry tree, symbols of Madrid included in its coat of arms. Then we walk down Arenal Street where we find La Mallorquina, an ancient bakery.

9.30 h - 10:50 h.

We walk down behind the Teatro Real, ending at the beautiful and gorgeous  Plaza de Oriente, where you can admire the majestic Royal Palace and next to it, the Almudena Cathedral and the Royal Theater.

If it’s sunny, take your time to have breakfast, enjoying the best views in Madrid. Order a chocolate with churros at the outdoor terrace of Café de Oriente. We take Mayor Street and walk down to the  Mercado de San Miguel, where we can enjoy a typical Spanish snack, a beer and some "pinchos" or a glass of cava (Spanish champagne) with some oysters. On the way we’ll find the Plaza de la Villa, the former city hall, which is loaded with history.

We turn down again to Puerta del Sol and walk through San Jerónimo Street to visit the  Prado Museum. On the way, on the left, we’ll find the home of parliament  with two guard lions. We arrive at Neptune fountain and cross the street to enjoy one hour in the Prado. Although it’s not a long time, it will help you get an idea of most of the styles and important paintings that the museum houses.

14:00 h - 15:30 h.

Now its time to have lunch! We propose a couple of ideas. If you prefer to have a quick tapas lunch, go to the  bars located at the back of the Palace Hotel.  If your choice is to have a rest while you have lunch, go down to  Atocha train station where you can enjoy astonishing and unforgettable views while eating inside a tropical forest atmosphere.

15:30 h - 16:30 h.

In any of the above cases, you’ll feel better if you have the chance to let your food settle, walking through  Retiro Park or taking a quick nap on the lake on a rowing boat.

16:30 h - 18:30 h.

It's time for shopping, so take a stroll up and down Serrano and Jose Ortega y Gasset Streets, the  gold mile, where the best fashion firms exhibit luxurious wares.

On the way, we face Columbus square and gardens in memory of Columbus and the heroic deeds done by Spanish explorers.

18:30 to 20:30 h.

We continue our stroll down the Paseo del Prado to the cutting-edge neighborhood of Chueca and  Fuencarral Street where most of the vanguard shops are located.
