Upon arrival, see the Walls of Ávila, which were built in the Middle Ages and are one of the most complete in the whole country. Admire the huge size and precise shapes of the fortifications. Head to the Ávila Cathedral, a Catholic church that is an architectural masterpiece. Be impressed by the detailed facades and the gothic shapes. It represents the Gothic and Romanesque architectural styles and is among the oldest ones in Spain. Visit the Santo Tomas Royal Monastery, which has three magnificent cloisters (Noviciado, Silencio, and Reyes), the latter being the largest of the three. The Reyes cloister is also a home for the Oriental Art Museum. See one of the best examples of Romanesque architecture in the country, the Basilica de San Vicente.
