Half day

9:00 - 9:30 hours. We start from the  Puerta del Sol, just under the clock of the twelve grapes. On the ground is the landmark of Spain’s kilometer zero. If you cross the road you can see the statue of the bear and strawberry tree, the symbol of Madrid. Then we go down Arenal Street where we find  La Mallorquina, a historical bakery.

9:30 - 9:50 hours. we go down behind the Royal Theatre, to the gorgeous Plaza de Oriente, where you can admire the majestic Royal Palace , Almudena Cathedral and the Royal Theatre.

9:50 - 10:15 hours. If it's sunny, take your time to have breakfast enjoying the best views in Madrid. Order a chocolate with churros at the terrace of  Cafe de Oriente.

10:15 - 10:45 hours. Now we suggest going to the  Plaza Mayor, where you can see the bakery house with its beautiful frescoes on the facade. Stroll under the arches of the square, noticing all the shops and bars.

10:45 - 11:30. We leave the Plaza Mayor to the Puerta del Sol again and then take the Carrera de San Jerónimo to reach Neptune Square. On the way we could stop at Lhardy, a century-old, charming restaurant built in an early 19th-century style, including silverware, old fashioned lamps and marble countertops.

Depending on weather conditions, we can try a tasty soup to warm up or an Oporto wine. We move on again, walking alongside the Parliament which leads to the Square of Neptune where two of the three best hotels in Madrid are located: the Palace Hotel on the right and the Ritz Hotel on the opposite side.

11:30 - 12:00 hours. If we walk down to the right, we can see the  Museo del Prado, probably the best art gallery in the world. Cross the street to the  CaixaForum Museum and see vertical green garden facade.

12:00 - 12:30 hours. From CaixaForum we follow the walk of Ar to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and then continue to the Plaza de Cibeles, where you can see the fountain of the same name, the  Palace of Communications, which is the current base of Madrid's City Hall, and the building opposite, the Bank of Spain. We can see the  Puerta de Alcala next to the Palace of Communications.

12:30 - 13:00 hours. From this point we head towards the Plaza de Colón, and on the way we can see the National Library. End at the Plaza in front of the statue erected in memory of Columbus to see the world's largest Spanish flag.

13:00. If you get hungry and you have time, we recommend the most emblematic and world’s oldest restaurant:  Casa Botín.
